While going through my blog reader, I came across an article on The Miele Guide requesting voters to vote for restaurants in Asia. It’s the equivalent of the Michelin Guide except this is for the Asia region. After going through the facts on their website and also the past winners that make it to the top 20 list, I conclude it’s complete crap to me.
More than half of the restaurants on the list aren’t even Asian cuisines and they are mostly just glorified European or fusion cuisines. I’m not condemning that European cuisines but if you want to do an Asian list then please make it an authentic one. It’s really hilarious to me that even the chef that they are praising hails from non-Asian countries.
Then the company that compiles this list, Miele, as I know it, is a company that focuses on high-end domestic appliances, you can read more here. From my experience living in Asia, I can hardly link this company with anything Asian. Even their panel of judges is peppered with non-Asian judges that claims to live there but we all know why they are there for. So what makes them think that their compilation is a representative of “Asia’s culinary landscape”?
On a side note, why must good food always be expensive and served in posh setting in order to be able to make it into list like this? Does that mean in future people should consider serving that thirst quenching cendol in some Swarovski crystal bowl with a 5-star setting in order to achieve the same adoration others have for soufflé?

Comfy wear
When I travel, comfortable is the keyword. So this is my usual ensemble, I like the hoodie attached because I can simply just cover my head (avoiding the paparazzi) when my hair gets messy after a sleep on the flight. This is me after a 3 hour flight.
