Can you throw a cup of noodle across distance without spilling it out? They can. (Not sure if there is any trick behind this)
P/s: Did anyone noticed that, except for one person, the rest of them are all the same guy?

Oh what a good Sunday. Never felt this good spending time by myself for a long time already. I woke up early today and have been having an angel and demon fights in me, whether I should step out of my house or not. I know the moment I step out, I will be splurging. It was difficult. Then I went back to sleep (again) and woke up, check out FB. Then saw a friend’s status glorifying her shopping experience in the GSS 2009 and that was the deal breaker for me (ugh! The evil of FB).
I spent the rest of the day shopping and lucky for me while I was out a friend who is nearby volunteered to company me. He helped me with my bags so that I can concentrate on my shopping. Very nice of him and because of that I did a serious damage to my CC statement. I think if I had to lug around town with those bags, I would have given up long time ago and head home after my second purchase of shopping bags. Anyway he left me with all the bags towards the end but that didn’t stop me to hop over to Paragon to make my last purchase at A|X. Due to the massive amount of bags I was holding on, in the end I couldn’t hold on anymore and I took a cab home. But I was smiling from ear to ear in the cab knowing that I had a good time shopping.

The weather today is awfully hot but that doesn’t stop me from making my way to Penang. The land of my favourite CKT, after my last trip here, I’ve been missing it. Actually there is a stall in my hometown, Kluang with very good CKT too. But the one here, I have very good memories of it partly because I came here with a group of good friends and Ron. We had lots of fun while here but this time round I came with my parents (and Ron too!). After my previous trip here, I was determined to bring my dad here as he is also a fan of good CKT like me, like father, like daughter. Penang is now a place where I have lots of good memories now.
We arrived here at about midday today but we didn’t venture around much other than having dinner at Restaurant 77 that’s along Gurney Drive for the famous curry fish head. Then took some picture with my parents along the coastline while waiting for food to be serve.
I’m feeling very happy and contented today because finally I manage to accomplish my personal goal that is to bring my parents out for a trip but this also means they have to be separated from my cute niece (this trip is their first time they are away from her for more than 24 hours since she were born). Although this is just a local trip but it is still a personal milestone for me but I know all this won’t have happened without Ron, so I really want to thank him for this and for being such an understanding boyfriend. I know how some boyfriends can be very dreadful when they have to go out with their girlfriend’s parents.
It’s getting late and I should get some sleep for my food adventure tomorrow (and pray hard that I my cholesterol and sugar level won’t climb higher than before).

It even got the top position in The Sunday Times' top 10 ramen but this is in 2006. Not sure if the results remains the same after 3 years because I quite like Men Tei's ramen but I don't see it listed here, yes I maybe a tad bias. (To HL & SY: I think we should have our weekly eat out based on this top 10 list here!)Some reviews by others that I checked out:
The Local King
HungryGoWhere
The Traveling Hungryboy
Epicurative
The broth of this ramen is thick and flavourful. I’m not a meat person and usually refrain from ordering meat because I dislike the taste / smell of pork. When I ordered this dish, I made a gamble hoping that the pork they served won’t have the taste/smell. Turn out the soup does have a bit of the pork aftertaste but subtle. So that’s good enough for me. As for the noodle, it’s not soft / soggy neither is it bouncy. They claim that the noodle is made from flour that arrived from Hokkaido. I’m not sure if they’re referring to all noodle or just certain noodle, anyway I can’t tell the difference either.
For the cakes, they used very fresh cream to do it, so the taste is light and fluffy. I like the cakes here but I think it's not hard to find these cakes at a cheaper price elsewhere in Singapore. But greedy me, I couldn't resist not having a second piece.
Also made from fresh cream and the chiffon has some bits of Azuki in it, giving it some texture when eating it. But since this is also made from Chiffon cake, I still think the price for this cake is a little overprice.
Overall the food there is good, albeit pricey. We will still go back there again but perhaps to give other dishes a try such as sushi and other assortments of ramen.
